Christopher Columbus
My mini-report is on Christopher Columbus (1451-1506). From what we all should know about Columbus, is that he was the man credited with the discovery of America. Know I am going to talk a little bit more on Christopher Columbus that you may or may not already know about him. Christopher Columbus started his voyages at a very young age. But what everyone should know about Christopher Columbus is that, he is an Italian-Spanish navigator who sailed west across the Atlantic Ocean in search for a route to Asia but achieved fame by making landfall in Americas Instead.
Columbus was born in the Italian port city of Genoa, on the Ligurian Sea between August 25 and October 31, 1451. Know one really know for sure when He was born, but different people say different things about when and where he was born. His Italian name was Cristoforo Colombo, which in English means Christopher Columbus. Columbus used different version of his name all depending on where he was located. Like when he was in Spain in 1485 he used the Spanish version of his name. Columbus's father was a wool weaver named Domenico Columbus. His father was also involved in local politics. His mother was Suzanna Fontanarossa, the daughter of a wool weaver. Christopher Columbus was the oldest out of five children. Christopher Columbus had three brothers, Bartholomew, Giovanni Pellegrino, and Giacomo and one sister, Bianchinetta. Then Columbus's family moved to Savona in 1470. After a while Columbus joined his father in wool weaving and then later on worked at a bookshop.
Columbus started his sailing career at the age of 14. He worked on different ships and had different roles, such as messenger, common sailor, and even a 21 year old privateer. Columbus's son Ferdinand stated in History of the Life and Deeds of Christopher Columbus that "in 1472 Columbus was given command of a ship on a privateering
