If you were to choose or create a quote or saying that defined you, what would it be and why?
This is not only my favorite quote, but a quote that I live by. This philosophical anecdote is the mantra by which I do the things I do. I here it often because my Swim Team coach repeats it to get us to achieve what we have not achieved before. “If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always gotten,” by an author unknown is more then a quote, it’s a belief.
When you need something to think about, this quote surely gets you pondering. You think about what you need to do to do better than how you have done. I am a year-round swimmer. I strive to get better by working as hard as I can each day. There are days that a person just doesn’t want to do their best. Then the coach comes out repeating the quote. A force comes over you and you start to think positively on what you need to go. I am constantly trying to get better because swimming is something that makes me who I am. There is no much progress if you continue to do the things you have been constantly doing. If you want to progress sufficiently, you need to do what you’ve done to a greater, more demanding extent, or you need to find a new way. An example that pertains to me which makes it a lot more meaningful to me is with trying to get faster in the pool. To get faster you can not simply swim laps at the same intervals all the time. You need to swim on faster intervals so that you challenge yourself up to the point where it becomes easy. Then you continue this to progress in the most efficient way. An example that pertains to academics which I was guilty of would be with studying. I used to not study and my bad grades on tests and quizzes were
