Subtle signs of Colonization
Colonization is some what apart of our everyday lives when it comes to school, work, and even
in our very own neighborhoods. Almost anywhere we go colonization still has to show its face in
the oddest places, never letting us fully unite with each other as we should be in the USA.
Very small but subtle signs of colonization exist right under our noses with out our own consent
In many states today, colonization has affected may high schools across the country. There has
been and there still is a tendency to labile our high schools by the highest ethnicity on campus.
For instance when people say "I go to a Black or White High school". That signal phrase is
showing sad but obvious signs of colonization. Slowly but surly this recurring form of
colonization is running other ethnicities away from the high schools because of there insecurity
when it comes to being apart of a black or white high school and not being able to fit in because
of there skin color. The school officials have probably recognized the problem but just have not
done any thing about it or there to scared to try to fix it. I while ago I read that some older
teachers transferred to other schools because they saw the ways that schools had lost there unity
when it comes to race issues. Many high schools are just starting to see how the labels on there
schools are affecting the students behavior on campus, and those few schools are trying to do
something about it, and also want to figure out how it begins.
Most schools that are racially labeled tend to have a lot more fights when compared to a mixed
high school. The students that are not apart of the dominating race on campus are usually
somewhat out cast and have no choice but to attend the school that is closest to them. The student,
some ware in the back of there mind knows that he or she might have a big chance of not fitting in
because they are black, white, Hispanic, or Asian at the high school. Joining any kind of clubs or
sports teams on campus might be out of the question for that student due to that fact that he or
she will get looked down upon or have a very hard time trying out for the team simply because
there skin color will make he or she stand out from the others. Sometimes the teachers are apart
of this colonization on campus
The student in the class room can also be a problem depending on how mature the teacher is with
his or her job. Even though the teacher tells the class that everyone "will" be treated and graded
fairly some ware during the grading proses the teacher will do some extra checking on the few
students, marking them down for things the other students did not get seriously penalized for.
