Columbus Day Recommendation

The teachers on Columbus Day should teach the children about Columbus and what a hero he was. Also during the school year the teachers should teach the children about his great journey. Christopher Columbus was a great adventurer whose achievements led to the settlement of North America and eventually led to our great country the United States. In grade school we where taught that Columbus was a hero, and our children should be taught the same as well. I don’t understand why some people would tarnish the image of such a man in the history our country and the world.
Christopher Columbus was a bold adventurer who paved the way for America and eventually the United States. On august 3, 1492 Columbus set sail from the coast of Spain to hopefully find a faster, safer route to Asia. On October 12, 1492 after a long and almost impossible three months at sea he finally hits what he taught was Asia, but turned out to be something much more. What he had landed on was what they later called “A New World”. After returning to Spain he taught countless number of ships how and where to sail so that the winds would carry them to America and back leading to the settlement of America.
Columbus Day is a proud and important day for America and the traditions that we have set. Also because Columbus was Italian it is a proud day for Americans with Italian decant. As a child I was taught that Columbus was a great American hero and I believe in that today. I believe also that our children should be taught the same. I don’t understand why people would want to ruin the tradition that we have set almost four hundred years ago. I don’t know why people would want to tarnish such an American hero as well.
On Columbus Day the teachers should teach our children what a hero Columbus was and how his discovery’s helped settle this country. Also during the school
