COMFORT ZONE: IT’S A TRAP OR AN ILLUSION
Comfort zone means relief in affliction, consolation, solace, a feeling of relief or consolation, a state of ease a satisfaction of bodily wants, with freedom from pain and anxiety. Being comfortable doesn’t really mean that life is risk free. Life is full of surprises whether we are in or out of our comfort zone. For students, they like everything to be easily done. The comfort zone also means a “behavioral space where your activities and behaviors fit a routine and pattern that minimizes stress and risk” (Lifehacker,-2014). For example, do simple task or assignment, online study and online quizzes. They also like to enjoy their hobbies in their leisure time. They are easily feel satisfied with success that they already achieved. Usually students who like to stay in their comfort zone, do not want to face challenges, however, they might sacrifice their comfort zone in order to achieve success.
Usually students who like to stay in their comfort zone do not want to face challenges. They are feeling very satisfied with what they enjoy right now. "I don't like to be out of my comfort zone, which is about a half an inch wide."(Larry David,-2011). They does not found any trouble or problem of their doings. They also do not want to mess up their mind with new things that might change their lifestyle. But, once they feel discomfort , that is the right time for them to change and move out of their comfort zone. It’s no longer comfortable when students are; feeling bored and restless, have nagging thoughts about something you wish you could experience, but you are afraid to act on it, desires to move forward have to be driven by your inner compass though not by some outside influence dictating what you should or should not be doing. “Live where you love, make friends with people you like and enjoy your life to the fullest” (Catalina,-2015).
However, students might sacrifice their comfort zone in order to achieve success. Despite our varying temperaments, it is always a good idea to shake things up and take risks when it comes to our career. "You can't be a successful leader or mentor until you have served. You can't serve until you have stepped out of your comfort zone. And you can't step out of your comfort zone unless you have character and keep your word." (Bill Courtney,-2014). Students must might try something new to enhance new experience and skills to increase their levels of comfortable.
