Image trying out for the track and field team, and you don’t know anything about the sport. Potential athletes are often forced to choose between track events or field events. They are making you choose between track events or field events. Many people think that track & field are the same things but it’s not it’s two different things. You have running events, field events however they have similarities. Track you can sprint, hurdle, or be on the relay team. Field events you can do jumps, throws & pole vault. People think they are similar because their names are combined and they are located in one circle, because of the population of the Olympics a worldwide audience are familiar with track and field events. People think track and field is the same because of the famous people that run don’t really recoginze field events.
Running events are totally different from field events. Today’s modern track is a oval shape, it has eight lanes. The track consists of short-distance sprints such as the 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m dash. The distance events are the 1,600m, 3,000m, 3,200m, 5,000m. You have the hurdle events which are the 100mh, 110mh, and the 400mh. The 100mh is for women to run, and the 110mh is for men. Lastly, they have the relays that are the 4x100m, 4x200m, 4x400m, and the 4x800m.
Field events are long, high, triple jump, javelin, pole vault, and throws.
