Condom machines on campus, who would have thought that there would be a need to promote safe sex in today's society. We live in a society now where sex is everywhere. It is on the radio, on the TV, and it is even on some cartoon shows. College life can be summed up into three words; Freedom, Freedom, and Freedom. With that freedom students are more likely to subject to activities that they would not normally do at or around home. Condom machines should be on campus because it promotes safe sex, serves as a convenience for campus bound students, and it would help to prevent unwanted pregnancies.
In the Yahoo India News ("Students against condom-vending machine on campus"), critics feel that these machines will encourage more sexual activities among students. However, this machine can not encourage sex any more than the media already has. In fact, there is a college that voted to reject the vending machines; as stated in The Body ("Administrators Veto Condom Vending Machines"). If students are going to engage in pre-marital sex, then having this machine is a way to begin a habit of protecting themselves. You can take a horse to the pond for water, but you can not make him drink. In other words, just telling these students it is not ok to have pre-martial sex is one thing (if they listen) but, telling then showing them how to be safe if they decide to do so is another. In today's society there are so many STD's now that are permanent and there are some that are fatal. Why continue to loose people to STD's when they can be shown how to help prevent the spread of them?
There are a few colleges that do not allow their freshman students to have cars on campus. If two students are about to engage in a sexual activity and realize that neither has any protection, most will not stop. Neither party will want to get up and redress themselves to take a ride to the store. Therefore with the machines conveniently located on campus, they
