Conformity is a word that should not exist in the English language. People stop themselves from being truly happy. In today society I believe we are all living life’s just to fit in. Everyone seems to be on autopilot without even enjoying the miracles around them every day. Living a life of gratitude is the best way to have a happy and even healthy life. When people live with gratitude, are present, and have a different mindset; those are the people who are truly successful. These are the difference between happy people and unhappy people.

Gratitude is a game changer to any one that is willing to receive and apply. It is a state of mind where, even in the toughest times, you can sit back and give thanks for the life lesson or lessons it left you with. A small change in your thinking can do miracles in times of need. Being happy is a momentarily emotion that does not last long. Just like anger, fear or sadness are emotions that will soon pass. In order to stay in a healthy state of mind you need to practice gratitude in any situation and ask yourself what are you here to teach me.

Being present is not an easy thing to do with many distraction. Phones, email, television are examples of distractions that take much of your precious time. Limiting those distractions and enjoying the simple things in life like the sky or the trees. Being truly aware of your surroundings can help you appreciate what a miraculous world we live in. Not being present with your children or family, because you are on the phone, can hurt your relationships. Being present needs practice in order for your mind to start doing it automatically.

Fitting in is not the only thing that should matter in your life. Like in the book, “To understand the options available to you and others, it is important to understand social expectations” (pg239).
