Connecticut

Thomas Hooker and some Massachusetts colonist founded Connecticut. Connecticut was founded because some people from Massachusetts wanted more freedom and even some more financial opportunities. Thomas Hooker led one hundred men into Connecticut. Those men made a town. The town the people first settled in is called Hartford. The year the settled was 1636.
In Connecticut the population grew slightly for a while then it started growing faster and faster and faster. The people in Connecticut got along for the most part. Some of the people made rum and sold it to make money for there families. Most people in Connecticut were puritans. Puritans are people who wanted to reform the Anglican Church. The separatists wanted to leave and set up there own church for them self.
A major city in Connecticut back then was New Haven. It was one of the biggest city back when Thomas Hooker founded it. Another big city was Hartford. Thomas Hooker founded Hartford in 1636. Hartford was also the first city in Connecticut.
The Government of Connecticut had a plan to form the " Fundamental Orders of Connecticut". This was how Connecticut became a colony. That was the first written Constitution in Connecticut. The Constitution described the organization of the representative Government.
Connecticut had good land. In Connecticut some grain was grown but not much. There were also cattle, and they made rum. In Connecticut there was little iron but there was some. The Family's in Connecticut collected or made some of these items so that they could trade or sell them to each other, but the main reason they sold these items was to support their family.
