Consumer Health Website List Assignment
Today on the Internet there are many sites that can be visited. The purpose of this paper is to look at three websites for consumers that are health related. The first website is Health Finder found at http://www.healthfinder.gov/ . This is a federal website for consumers developed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services with other agencies. This is an easy to use website that is neat and organized and does not have a great deal of clutter. To access the site is easy and does not require the user to register to view the information. The features that I found to be beneficial were the search option, health library and the health news section. Having a specific search option allows the user to search for a specific topic of interest. The health library has hand picked information but also a medical library and access to journals. The health news section allows the users to stay on top of the latest health news to date.
The second web site I looked at was Health Canada online found at http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/english/ . This is a website funded by the Government of Canada produced by Health Canada as an educational and informational tool. Features that I liked about this web sited was again the option to users to do their own personal searches. The second feature that I liked about this website was the latest headline news section. This section was featured largely and had relevant information and links to West Nile virus and Avian flu. The third feature that I found to be helpful was the warning and advisory section. Here important messages were posted, for example Canada Health's warning about metal toy jewellery found in vending machines and that is should be discarded.
The third website I viewed was Health Web, found at http://www.healthweb.org/ . Features that I liked about this site were again the personal option to do personal
