Name:-divya
Age:-23
Occupation:- works for tcs
Place:- Hyderabad
Which is your favourite shopping mall and why?
In orbit in Hyderabad.
Initially I used to stay in Warangal which is a small town and where there are no big malls.... (recalling the days) she says... for every single thing from sugar to diwali dresses she says ” I used to find it irritating to go to many places for shopping and especially during festive season there would be a lot of crowd at a single place and i would find it really hard to even search for a good dress forget buying it...”. she recites an incident here “ i liked a dress in a shop but it was on the mannequin so i somehow managed to seek the attention of the shopkeeper who was at the counter and i asked him to give it to me, the moment i said that, the shopkeeper replied that five people are in queue and literally they are going to bid for the dress.”
This was about dresses now i would like to tell about day to day things, there was a grocery shop near my house, it used to be a monthly list so we used to tell this guy to either deliver or we used to take the whole thing or we used to go by ourselves to get the things. This was quite comfortable and i was contended with this.
Now i tell you about how i used to buy fresh vegetables from the ‘mandi’ which was the source of fresh vegetables, i was very satisfied with this purchase and also the quality..... but when it comes to buying branded products which i generally prefer especially in case of cosmetics i found it little difficult because there, there were no big shops and so if i needed any thing then i had to place an order and that used to be brought from cities like Hyderabad and then used to reach me.
So this was very much a time taking process.
When it comes to buying accessories , i would be very excited to buy them as i see them on the television but those weren’t available there so whenever i would go to Hyderabad i would get it from there.
I would find it difficult to even purchase footwear that had a great design because generally there were only a few shops like bata or some local shop were i was not satisfied with the design.
While we were planning to buy furniture we had to place an order with the carpenter and even after that we would worry if that design actually would turn out to be good, if we compromise on this then we lost the quality, if we went by this we lost the satisfaction to get the best interior design.
This is how life used to be in Warangal... but after shifting to Hyderabad for the purpose of job, here i found a lot of shopping malls that are very huge and provide you the access of a large variety. You can just enter and keep on shopping till you are satisfied.
In malls you get all kinds of branded stuff and we also find a particular section for cosmetics... like ‘mac’ the brand i prefer in cosmetics has its one and only one store across Hyderabad in Inorbit mall alone so it is very convenient for me to shop whatever i want.
You find the best designs and the best interiors that delight you, the choice you have in a mall is also unlimited, if you don’t like in a shop then you can easily move to the next shop in the same mall and look out for your choice. I get a kind of shopping experience and have a nice time in mall and even there is a large food court in Inorbit with so much of variety in cuisine and i being a foodie just love to visit Inorbit anytime of the day for any purchase.
Which all shopping malls have you visited ?
Inorbit, pvr, central, lifestyle, shopper’s stop, coupons are the malls that i visited
What are the best things about these malls?
In orbit—as said above its my favourite mall and the best part is that it is close to the place i live and so i usually go there itself for shopping and moreover it has a huge eatery so i just like to go and hang out there.
Pvr—the best part of pvr is that it has a theatre that is very famous for its sound effects , so whenever i feel like watching a movie i turn out to this place.
Central—the shopping at central is a nice experience but i generally don’t prefer this because its kind of far from my place and i don’t like to travel in such traffic to go to a mall.
Coupons—this is one place that is best when i have a tight pocket. You get clothes at such a discounted rate that you generally cant just stop yourself from buying it, and the best part is that it is located just beside paradise restaurant which is famous all over indid for its biryani, its like a value addition, whwenever you go to coupons you end up buying clothes at a cheaper rate and also have the best biryani.
State your shopping experience at a retail shop?
Generally i prefer retail shop to buy just the household items and so i would actually not describe it as an experience because it is just going and buying and nothing more. I just go there with a certain list buy and come back.the monthly grocery is almost purchase at the retail stores.
Talking about retail also reminds me of a ‘general bazaar’ which is a street consisting of retail shops with a good ‘mix and match’ stuff where we generally go and buy non branded daily wear clothes. These type of shops gives you a lot of discount when compared to the showrooms around. The cost of each cloth you get here is at a cheaper rate and this thing is what i observed from my personal experience.
I even prefer going to the retail store for buying medicines and vegetables.. these are our basic needs and also you cannot keep going to the mall even if you just stay beside it for just buying vegetables because basically you don’t get vegetables in the mall. Medicines also we buy only when we need them and that is very rare so i prefer buying these in the retail shops.
There are a variety of retail shops for example a general store and a super market like d-mart , which do you prefer?
I prefer going to a general store because i think it is easier for me to go to a smaller shop and get the monthly lists because i feel i will make unnecessary purchases if i go to a super market. The things that are not on my list also keep coming into my basket.
Even the general store is closer to my house and so i can make urgent purchases easily, in these store i get a discounted rate because i have been knowing the owner since a long time, but when it comes to purchasing at super markets then we are charged at m.r.p . the vegetables are also fresh in the near by store than in the supermarket where they are stored in refrigerators. so for all these stated reasons i prefer a nearby store than a super market.
Do you think shopping mall is more enriching experience than a retail shop? If so, why?
