Controls
There are a number of controls that will be implemented in order to insure operations are going smoothly and the Bed and Breakfast is performing to its optimal level while continuing to maximize profits.
Quality Control
Employee Training & Education
Since we are in the service industry our employees our extremely important for our success. The innkeeper will be the only employee so his training will be extensive to provide the best quality. The innkeeper will be trained not only in their specific operational duties but also in the philosophy and applications of our concept. They will receive extensive information from a professional chef and be kept informed of the latest information on healthy eating. Being and informed and diverse chef will be important because our innkeeper will have to be flexible to the needs of the customers. Special training will focus on understanding the local history of the area, acquiring an awareness of conversation, and knowing the proper procedures of servicing clients visiting.
Feedback Evaluations
To evaluate the overall quality control of the Bed and Breakfast we will provide each of our residents with a rating based surveys from 1-10. This survey will evaluate:
• cleanliness
• quality of food
• quality of the room
• quality of service
• Timeliness of service
• likeliness to return
• was the value and service worth the cost
• this experience compared to similar facilities (hotels and other B&B’s)
• overall quality
• additional comments.
We will strongly recommend them to fill out the additional comments box to allow for us to make specific improvements. With this feedback we will be able to improve the quality of experience by tailoring our facilities to the needs of our customers to provide them with an unmatched experience, which is one of our quality strategies. Since we are in a service industry quality control is the major control that we must monitor.
Cost Control
We will have another one of the investors evaluate the cost quarterly. He will be our accountant. The accountant will also help evaluate the performance and effectiveness of the innkeeper. The innkeeper will receive an evaluation quarterly on the costs from the accountant. If costs are too high we will work to find ways to cut overhead because most of the other costs are fixed. If the costs are below the budgeted amount then the innkeeper will receive a bonus, above his own returns as a co-owner, to provide an incentive for continued success.
Innovations
Ongoing R & D activities are a continuous work in process. Through R&D we can understand our competitors and differentiate ourselves our competitors.
