Abstract

        Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad (Astro) is the company that listed in Bursa Malaysia and incorporated at Malaysia (Company No. 932533-V) under Company Act 1965[1]. In this paper, I will go through series of ways about how Astro achieve diversity in the company and by doing so, how Astro creating value to the company thus achieving company sustainability. In this paper, we will examine the diversity of board of director (BOD) of Astro.

Introduction

        Today, the barriers between the countries are slowly depletes, people have more rights and freedom to explore to more places in the world. Following by that, more and more company choose to use globalization strategy to lower down the cost or finding for a better opportunity for the company which making the things get more diverse and complicated. Malaysia, as a country that forms by person with different ethnicity and culture, in order for the company to achieve better resolution, they will need diversity. Diversity began to become a well-known term in this few years, it is because most people believe that by enhancing diversity, it enable them to work at more effective way and able to taking into accounts more views and decision making style that align with diversity in person identity such as different in age, ethnicity gender, education level etc., thus, enable them to do better resolutions and enhance understanding between each other to collaborating better. Nowadays, diversity is not just about individuals and group from a broad range of geographic and philosophical difference but also include respect and acceptance which is also about understanding and recognizing their differences and unique, and exploring this differences in safety and nurturing environment. Furthermore, there is no cultural superior to another & respect individual right to self-identification[2].
