Haiti has been ranked as the poorest and most corrupt county in the western world world. Few positive
remarks could be stated about Haiti. Agriculture contributes the most to GDP, the economy has
suffered from political instability, corruption and poor governanc to the extent that the GDP has
contracted rather than expanded.
Its long history of political upheaval where immense concentration of incomes cause's 80
percent of the population to live below the poverty line which leaves them with some hard
development issues that lie ahead.
Haiti is a resilient society whose rural communities in particular have developed coping
mechanisms in response to a long history of underdevelopment and political instability
Haiti is also full of poverty and inequality, economic decline and unemployment, poor
governance, and violence.
A certain percent of the population is involved with what seem fairly desperate efforts,
the making of charcoal from almost every source of wood, including cactuses this is a way of
bringing in some kind of income yet doing this is causing more and more burnt land and
less vegetation if you look at a picture of Haiti and the Dominican republic you can latterly
see the line where they meet because Haiti has no lush green space and the Dominican
republic does. Family sizes are large so there is overpopulation thus causing people to
push out of the northwest to overcrowded port-au prince and less desirable land
which is more fragile. There is a lack of water, grass and diseases is the northwest witch
makes farming very difficult. No matter what the people of Haiti turn to make a living there is always a problem since starting a business
in haiti takes four times longer than the world
average. Business freedom and freedom from corruption proved to be the major
weaknessin terms of economic freedom.thus making most labours in haiti assume
temporary employment.Yet the majority of jobs come from subsistence farming and
agriculture the down side 63% of the land is too step by agronomics standers for
agricultural production, thus causing the unemployment.
To make matters worse loans from commercial banks virtually unattainable, since most
banks lack stability. The first page talk's soly about haiti and why it's corrupted ,why the
people are in poverty and why the country is in tormaol. The next part of the paper I will
be talking about what coorruption is why its caused how it can be prevented and what I
think will become of haiti.
