The approach of business simulation, illustrated with an episode from the Credenhill Industries simulation, a developing business for which we develop a ongoing flow of advice based on the application of business principles. Emphasizing communication skills, another perspective, and the outcome of assumptions on decisions, the simulation demonstrates the usefulness and importance of business decision makers. The goal of shifting from well-structured problems to real work like that in business simulations is to develop thinking skills while creating interest and increasing the usefulness of simply memorizing solutions to existing problems is a widely acclaimed.

Using business simulation this way responds to learning experiences that create opportunities on developing the thinking skills required for success in business. The capability can be characterized as critical thinking, the ability to solve problems, or difference from Linda Jones about the best solution.

Although learning to think critically to solve new problems rather than for students in higher education, teaching for critical thinking has not traditionally been attempted in accounting principles courses.
