Critical Thinking Application Paper

Critical thinking is presents itself to everyone, everywhere. Critical Thinking is used constantly at work and has an abundance of importance and benefits. Everyone must learn what critical thinking is, how it is used, and how to use it, so better decisions can be made.

Critical Thinking consists of mental processes of discernment, analysis and evaluation. It includes possible processes of reflecting upon a tangible or intangible item in order to form a solid judgment that reconciles scientific evidence with common sense. In contemporary usage "critical" has a certain negative connotation that does not apply in the present case. Though the term "analytical thinking" may seem to convey the idea more accurately, critical thinking clearly involves synthesis, evaluation, and reconstruction of thinking, in addition to analysis. Critical thinkers gather information from all senses, verbal and/or written expressions, reflection, observation, experience and reasoning. Critical thinking has its basis in intellectual criteria that go beyond subject-matter divisions and which include: clarity, credibility, accuracy, precision, relevance, depth, breadth, logic, significance and fairness. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critical_thinking

I deliver to meeting and different events. There are several buildings that I deliver to on Evga’s campus. A dilemma that presents itself almost every day in my job is trying to manage time to make sure that everything is prepared and delivered on time. So I have to figure out the best solution to deliver the caterings on time. I take previous experiences to help me make my decisions.

Another example of me using critical thinking at my job is that I constantly have to make rational quick solutions. Such as if I deliver to another building and I am expecting to be able to put my catering on the countertop in the room, however once upon arrival I look into the room and the meeting is already in session and the countertop space has all been taken up by bags, papers, and another items. I have to make a quick decision to decide where to put the catering, and the time is ticking because their catering is due in seven minutes. So I can go ahead and take the stuff into the room move everything out of the way and or wait for someone in the meeting to get up and move it for me. On the other hand another decision I can make is to run down to the basement and grab a table and tablecloth to set it up for the catering. I can do either, but I usually decide upon how much stuff is on the countertops, how difficult it would be to get everything out of the way, and by how much time I have left to meet the deadline.

By using critical thinking one can enjoy benefits throughout one’s long life. Experience dictates that
