Curious Incident

In this paper about 'the curious incident of the dog and the nighttime' we will talk about how each of the character, the mother, father, and Chris himself,, did to make the family itself break up and how they each cause the father to do what he did to the dog. Since they each had their own hand in it, I will explain what each of them did in each of the paragraphs.

Lets start with the mother, who many people say was the worst of the 3. In the beginning we hear that she died in the hospital of some unknown heart problems, leaving chris and the father on their

own and grieving. Though later in the book we find out that she is alive and well, and banging the neighbors husband no less, and living not to far away. When chris finds this out, he goes to her and tries to live with her, causing herr to break up with the neighbors husband and move back to where she used to live to be able to get chris back into school. Her leaving was cause by the fact that she could not deal with the father and chris combined. She felt to over worked and up and left to live with theneighbors husband, when she comes back she contends with the father over how to raise chris. Her leaving was what cause the father to snap in the first place, causeing the start of the story with the forked dog.

Now lets look at the father, who many claim to be the main reason the whole affair is screwed up. We all know that the guy wont win father of the year if he was the last father on earth, but the guy does try. He tries to understand chris's problem and he tries really hard to work with it, but about mid-way through he seriously starts to screw things up. He lies about the mother, he forks the dog in the beginning, and tries to shut down chris's investigation about the dog. Now lets look at what he did. When the mother left, he lied to chris and said she died of heart failure. When he started to depened on the neighbor and the neighbor starts to loose interest

in them, he looses all sense and forks the dog in the yard. When chris starts to look into it, he goes completly crackdown on him and tries to stop, because he is the one who forked the dog and he does not want chris to find out. When chris finds the letters, he completly over reacts and spills the beans on the dog to, completly freaking out chris and making him run off to his mother.

Now lets look at what chris himself has done. Before that though, and to make things abit clearer, I feel that it is necessary

to mention the fact that chris is autistic, meaning that his mind can not handle anything that isn't

cut and dry. He does not understand what emotions can cause to a person, can not pick up subtle hints about some ones mood, and always thinks things are completly logical. He cannot
