Dan Brown was born on June 22 in 1964. Brown grew up in Exeter, in a place called New Hampshire. He graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in 1982. His mother Constance, also called Connie, was a professional musician. She plays organ at church. Brown's father Richard G. Brown taught high school mathematics at Phillips Exeter Academy from 1962 until his retirement in 1997. He has onebrother, his name is Gregory and one sister her name is Valerie. Dan moved to Los Angeles and pursued a career as a composer and musician without great success. Then he studied art history in Seville. In 1993 he returned to New Hampshire and took a teaching job at his old school. In 1995 Dan Brown and his wife, Blythe, an art historian, wrote yhe book: '187 Men to Avoid: A Guide for the Romantically Frustrated Woman'. The following year Dan Brown became a full-time writer and published his first thriller, Digital Fortress, in 1998. He went on to write 'Angels and Demons' and 'Deception Point'. 'The Da Vinci Code' was published in March 2003 and sold 6,000 copies on the first day. The book is now reported to have has sold more than 18 million copies worldwide, but this figure keeps on growing. Dan and his siblings donated $2.2 million to the Phillips Academy in 2004 to honour their father, who had taught there for 35 years. The Da Vinci Code is currently being adapted into a film by Columbia Pictures, with director Ron Howard. The film will star Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon, Audrey Tautou as Sophie Neveu and Sir Ian McKellen as Leigh Teabing. It is scheduled for release on May 19 in 2006. Brown is now working on a new novel, called The Solomon Key, which will reportedly take place in Washington D.C. The book will be about the secret society of the Freemasons. Exact release date has not been announced, but the most common media speculation says 2007.
