Dark Figure

I looked at the dark figure ashen faced. My stomach was churning vigorously and violently upon seeing the apparition coming even nearer. ‘It would be my doomsday’ That was the only thought that crosses my mind. Frankly, I was blaming myself for being hasty and foolish to get myself into hot water.
It was a typical dull school holiday after the final examination. Instead of lazing around, I had come with an exciting plan – a vacation to my uncle’s house with my buddy, Picasso. It was a far cry away from the city where we lived. Leisurely, we enjoyed the leisure-and-country-styled holidays life in the remote village was absolutely free.
An idle mind is the devil’s workshop. One day, Picasso claimed that he had heard about a haunted house at the outskirts of the village. The isolated house was burnt ages ago and was in a deplorable condition. None of the villagers dared to approach it.
“Stop it, Picasso! It’s not funny at all! Hahaha!” Thinking that he was pulling my legs and taking the mickey out of me by making a ridiculous ghost story, I just laughed heartily at him.
“Hey chicken-hearted. It’s just you who are wishy-washy like a lass!” I dared you come with me.
Not a man to be challenged easily, I will go there to show our bravely and manhood. That time, I never believed in the existence of ghosts and attributed such tales to overworked human imagination and are just silly folklores.
It was already in the dead of the night when we reached the dilapidated house which was deemed as haunted. It was silhouetted against the night sky. As I stepped into the house, I felt an eerie chill, yet not even gentle breeze was blowing.
I flashed my torchlight, prior to having a look inside the house. There were still bits and pieces of old furniture strewn all over the floor, besides cobwebs hanging on the walls and ceilings. I pointed to an old picture on the walls “You are so ulgy.” I smiled at the sight. For this was an excellent and perfect proof that the tiniest of God’s creatures had made this place their home, when man in his false superstition has abandoned it or so I thought.
Just then, we heard a terrifying and piercing shriek. I had goosebumps and felt my hair standing on ends like a defensive cat’s. It really scared the heebie-jeebies out of us.
Abruptly, a green light was formed in the middle of the room. A ghostly and gruesome apparition appeared right before my eyes. I bet, it was the ugliest woman I had ever seen! Her face had long line of open scars and I could see maggots and worms oozing out from the open scab. Yuck!
We were dumbstruck and then, we freaked out and ran like a bat out of hell. As luck would have it, we found that the door was unable to be opened while the deadly figure was floating towards us!
