Data Collection for RBC Insurance
Data collecting for an insurance agent is key to making sales. Insurance is not a cookie cutter business, one size does not fit all. A family of five have different needs than a family of two. Even two different families of five could have different goals in life where life insurance would be different for each family. That is why asking the right questions and using that information to benefit the client is key to an insurance agent.
As an insurance agent, I find just having a normal conversation with potential clients is my best technique. This puts the client at ease and they are normally more open and forthcoming with personal information. The information I look for on a first appointment with a prospect is what is their most important financial goal. This is different for even some couples, one might say the children's education and the other might say saving for retirement. Both of these goals are important and both can be taken care of by insurance in the event one of the spouses die.
The other information I look for is how much in debt they are and what are their assets. This will determine how much insurance is needed in the event of an untimely death. This insurance is not for the deceased but the loved ones they leave behind. The insurance will help provide for their loved ones and make sure that their quality of life standards do not change drastically because of the untimely death.
I also ask if the prospect has any other types of insurance such as cancer, health or disability and depending on their age long term care insurance. This brings up a whole new avenue of products that I can sell to them. Asking health questions like has anyone in your family had cancer opens up more conversations for financial information. Almost everyone has experienced a loved one with cancer and the financial burden it puts on a family.
