David And Rita

There Rita sat in the waiting room of the doctor's office waiting for him to return
with the word of how David was doing. As the doctor came through the door, Rita could
tell by the look on his face that the cancer wasn't getting any better. He came and sat
down on the table in front of her and with hesitance in his voice he told Rita the news.
David has a 20% chance of living the way it looks now he said; Rita felt her heart drop.
He asked if she wanted to tell David the news because it might be better coming from
her, although she was hesitant, she knew it was best that it came from her.
Before David was diagnosed with cancer, he thought he was immune. He figured
as long as he ate right and exercised he would never get it. A short time before this a
friend of his was diagnosed with cancer, so if any of his family or friends ever got a
bump, he pushed and pushed to go and get it checked by a doctor. When a bump began to
form on his calf, he ignored it and just thought nothing of it. Finally David went into the
doctor and they removed the lump and a large area around it, the whole ended up being
the size of a softball. The lump went in for testing and David and Rita went out of town
with there family, but there weekend away was interrupted by a phone call from David's
doctor ordering him to come in Monday morning.
They did radiation treatment and for about nine months and stopped when
they thought he was it was gone. The doctor had told David and Rita that it was most
likely gone, but if it had spread upward into his thigh and groin that it would be very
difficult to cure. The doctor reassured David and Rita that it was very unlikely for this to
happen and that the chances were very minimal and they were not to worry. Rita once
again found her self sitting in that waiting room, and once again the doctor came through
that door with that same look on his face. He sat down in front of Rita and informed that
what he said shouldn't happen, did. They had found more in his upper thigh and it was
