Dead Poet's Society

If Dead Poet's Society was untitled, I would title it Corrosion of Conformity because John Keating was someone who tried to break the barriers of norms in society, and made his students realize that they needed to think for themselves and break through the conformity that held back their potential.

John Keating was a daring man, someone who thought for himself and tried to get his students to adapt his philosophy of thinking "outside the box" and not just following the same things everyone else was. The first time the students ever opened their textbooks, Mr. Keating had them rip out the part that told them the "proper" way to go about analizing and reading literature. He taught his class in a way that appalled fellow professors. He was someone who took chances, and understood that the key to education was thinking for yourself. He strongly supported the latin saying "Carpe Diem" which ment "Seize the Day" because he believed that everyone only has a limited time on earth and in life, so you should go through it taking chances, and not living with any regrets you have about things you didn't try or do in life. When the students formed the "Dead Poets Society" they did it to break away from all the things that held them back from having fun and reaching their goals. They also did it as a tribute to a man they adored, Mr. Keating, because he had started the club when he attended the school. He made his students look rebelious, which in the end cost him his teaching position at the school. But his students adopted his philosophy and stood by him until the end.

Clearly, because of John Keating breaking through boundaries in society and societys norms, and helping his students live fulfiling lives, and "Seizing the Day", Dead Poets Society should be titled Corrosion of Conformity
