Running head: Decision Making
Decision Making
My group used a combination of explanations to arrive at a consensus decision. The group decision making process is very different from the individual decision making process. In group decision making the group brainstorms and often generates many alternative solutions. Group decisions can also lead to conflicts when a member or members disagree or cannot come to one conclusion. Whereas individual decision making has limited information to process and they use heuristics and have a tendency to satisfice.
To reduce errors, we took several steps during the group decisions. We reduced error by letting our employees brainstorm within two groups and then bring their ideas together. We also want to let the employees know that it is okay to voice their opinions.
The implications of social influence are that comparison and social viewpoint have a tendency to influence the perception of others in the group. When objective information is not accessible, people have a tendency to formulate their own opinion. With organization, decisions are more than likely made using the social comparison theory. To test their decisions, they have meetings to discuss their ideas with other members. A lot of times with organizations the opinion and the abilities of the employees are often overlooked.
