How can it be prevented??

Many overweight Americans should be asking themselves, "Do I have diabetes?" Millions of Americans are not aware of the signs and symptoms that lead to diabetes. An article released by the NIH on February 20, 2003 mentioned about 17 million Americans have diagnosed diabetes and more than 90 percent of them have type 2 diabetes. People with type 2 diabetes either do not make enough insulin or their bodies do not use it properly (Associated Press, 2004). The number of people with this form of diabetes, formerly known as adult onset or non-insulin dependent diabetes is growing rapidly. The leading cause of death in people diagnosed with type 2 diabetes is CVD, or cardiovascular disease. These people also experience more nonfatal heart attacks and strokes (NIH, 2003). Who wants to spend their golden years suffering because constant heart attacks and strokes?
Thus, Americans shouldn't be asking themselves if they have diabetes. The real question should be, "HOW CAN IT BE PREVENTED?" There have been millions of studies done on this particular topic of prevention. Believe it not, there have been a ton of suggested ways to prevent the condition. How do we know this really works? An article from msnbc.com was titled; Coffee may lower the risk of diabetes. This bogus article implies that drinking six cups of coffee daily may be able to prevent diabetes. Sure!!! This article also does not mention the long term effects of drinking six cups of coffee daily. That would explain why the author's name was "associated press."
On webmd.com there is an article based on the study of a drug that will cut the risk of diabetes by 60 percent. This article was titled,
