Made sure that all new employees whether entry level or executives went through a 3 day culture course that included even dressing up as a character for a day
He intentionally encouraged tension between divisions and open debates and believed that the best idea would present itself if it was validated between all the employees
Though he wanted to stay true to company's core values, he understood that market was changing and that new opportunities needs to be captured by Disney, so allowed Disney to produce its first R-rated movie, which turned out to be huge sucess.
In this way, he was able to establish new markets and audiences that gave company over 20% return in hs early years.
Disney has been sucessfull for so long because of the foundation and strategy it was built on.
Understood that failure was part of the journey to sucess, open to taking risk on untapped markets like animation with voice integration, live actions movies and theme park for entire family
Core principle was to provide a promise, not a product, alwasy exceed customer expectations, pursue your passion and money will follow, differentiate your product, defy the conventioon and leave behind something to grow
