Executive Summary
Playboy enterprise's is the world's best known and best selling magazine. They offer much more than just magazines but a variety of adult material that is available to the public. They generate revenue from four different streams, publishing, licensing, online, and through TV. The enterprise is becoming more diverse with their material and also more globalized with the expansion of their magazines to other countries and through the internet. Our group really enjoyed researching Playboy and enjoyed every aspect of putting together this project.
First, we described the Mission Statement and goals of Playboy. Next, we talked about the Product and service portfolio and how Playboy generates its revenue from different streams. Third, we discussed the Profit dynamics and the market share that the company holds. Fourth, we showed how the different technology is applied to the enterprise. Next, in the project is the employment structure that goes into the hierarchy of the organization.
The key success and weakness factors came next in the project. This was obtained from, (www.busineesweek.com). Here we talked about how Playboy plans to succeed in the future and what factors will hold them back. Also briefly we discussed the outlook for Playboy and what they have planned for the future. The information model was the last part of the project here we showed the model itself and talk a little about how everything work within the enterprise.
Mission statement and Goals
Playboys enterprise is a brand-driven, international multimedia entertainment company that publishes editions of Playboy magazine around the world; operates Playboy and Spice television networks and distributes programming via home video and DVD globally; licenses the Playboy and Spice trademarks internationally for a range of consumer products; and operates Playboy.com, a leading men's lifestyle and entertainment Web destination. The company's four business groups are Publishing, Entertainment, Licensing and Online.
The company is poised for continued growth and diversification. The goals of playboy are to stay the number one selling adult men's magazine in the world. Their goals are to have as many people as they can read there magazine. They also want to stay on the cutting edge with technology by using satellites and the World Wide Web. Playboy continues to grow and so do their goals. Playboy continue to expand there business in other countries, and produce all of there products in foreign languages while making sure that the material the make isn't offensive to other cultures other than the United States. Playboy's goal on the Internet is to have the number one membership site in world. This is going to be very hard for playboy because there is a lot of adult material on the World Wide Web. Playboy has a lot to keep up with in this everyday changing world. Here are some examples, changes in general economic conditions, consumer spending habits, viewing patterns, fashion trends or the retail sales environment which, in each case, could reduce demand for our programming and products and impact our advertising revenues. Playboy plans on staying on cutting edge on all of these examples. The strategic 2004 are as follows; Retain emphasis on creating unique Playboy-style content across media platforms, Extend audience reach and revenues in high-margin electronic businesses via technology and distribution, Expand licensing efforts beyond traditional apparel/accessories lines Minimize operating and financial risk through licensing deals, partnerships
