I choose the topic Down syndrome (Trisomy 21) as the disorder my child tested positive for. Down syndrome is a genetic disorders caused by a random error in cell division that results in the presence of an extra copy of chromosome.Down syndrome can be determine during pregnancy by prenatal screening followed by testing, or after the baby is born by observing and genetic test.
As a 36 year old women, whom been trying over 2 years, spending over $40,000 there is a lot to think about. One of the biggest obstacles for a woman at the age of 35 years or older may be getting pregnant in the first place. Not only do you have to think of your baby health but your health as well. Not only getting pregnant is hard but being able to stay pregnant. The rates of miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy go up as you age.
If my child was to be burn with a disability I wouldn’t care. My child would be loved no matter what. I don’t believe an abortion is right in no way. Know one should have the right to another person life. One of my favorite artist made a song called “ Lost Ones.” One of my favorite lines in that song is trying to take away a life? Is you god?
I have a cousin who was diagnosed with down syndrome before his birth. My auntie told me that was one of the hardest decision she had to make. She tells me to this day that it shouldn’t have been so hard because she looks back at that call from her doctor and know that was the best decision she made by keeping her baby boy. He is no different from anyone else. He not only attending college, but even get two part time job.
