Coming from a small town where most people go to school for teaching or nursing, I was sure that nursing was my calling in life, but realized that I wanted to explore my options and found criminal justice and discovered that I had fallen in love with it. After taking the Criminal Justice in high school for three consecutive years, I realized just how much more I could learn about the possibilities with this major and how I would still be able to make a positive impact on the world. I knew with Criminal Justice that there was a world of possibilities out there for me career-wise. This includes law school, law enforcement, forensics, crime analysis, and many, many more amazing options and opportunities. When I wanted to be a nurse, I felt as if it was what I was supposed to do, not what I was meant to do. I chose this major because I want to make this world a safer place for future generations, I want to help assure that what is right and pure in the world stays that way and is not taken over by the negativity that has seemingly begun to increase throughout this country and many others. When people say, you find yourself in college, they are correct. You discover what opportunities there are that aren't heavily influenced by where you came from and who you knew; you discover exactly what you want to do with your life and it is truly amazing. The white on black crime that has been happening for the past couple of years have been unacceptable. This was another reason that I made sure my major didn't change and that I will become a Law Enforcement Officer. I realized for us to see a change we must physically do it and what better way to do that by putting ourselves in that position. I graduate in December and plan on getting hired immediately so I can make a change. Although this job is dangerous, I'm willing to put my life on the line for others. The life of others is just as important as the life of mine because that commitment is something I’m very passionate about.
