Dreams. As a young boy, I have had vivid dreams that many would describe as “apocalyptic”. I can remember as early as age nine dreaming of the sky being red, stars crashing to the earth, and violence filling the globe. The very first vivid dream that I remember was surreal. I was looking out of the living room window when I noticed the sky was blood red and the telephone poles were broken and hanging to the ground. The street was abandoned and there were few buildings left standing. In the distance, I saw a what I believed to be the devil throwing fire at everything that he could. Shortly thereafter, a huge star fell and crashed into the lot next to my house and left an endless pit in the ground. I can still feel the “realness” of this dream. Another dream that I find sobering is the destruction of parts of Pittsburgh. I was twenty-one years of age at the time of this dream when planes were falling out of the sky and crashing everywhere you could imagine. The jumbo jets were engulfed in flames and fire fighters scrambled to rescue people and put out the fires. Buildings were bombed by enemy armies and chaos was rampant. Cars were abandoned, wrecked, streets had buckled under the weight of rubble and debris, and very few people survived. As you see, a pattern is beginning to form. These dreams continue to be persistent in my life. The most notable series of dreams that occur with me are tornadoes. I have had countless encounters with these menacing and destructive storms. This particular dream may shake you up a little as it does most people. June 1, 1998 when I dreamed that I was standing on my mother’s porch that looks over to the Southside and towards Mt. Washington when I saw a funnel cloud drop out of the sky over in the direction of Mt. Washington. The sky was black and very intimidating to look at. It touched down and caused destruction.
