Introduction

  • It was Wednesday evening, and I was desperately searching through internet with the hope to find a topic for my speech. Something that would be interesting and unexpected for everyone (or at least majority of you). So I am looking though websites and then I see this (picture will be shown) And I think “Well this would be a good topic to present on”. I know Dwayne Johnson as an actor, but an idea of him running for president got me intrigued even more than his actor career.  So what I am going to tell you about today is how Dwayne Johnson is considering to run for president for 2020.

  • I am sure that all of you know or at least have heard about Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson from his actor career, but let me still tell you a little about him and his achievements.

Personal Life

  • Born into a professional wrestling family in 1972 in California. Johnson grew up poor and racked up numerous arrests for fighting and petty theft while still a minor. In high school began playing football and soon received a full scholarship from the University of Miami where had a tremendous success as a football player. An injury ended his college football career, so he entered the ring with the World Wrestling Federation. Later Johnson decided to exchange his wrestling fame for a film career, making his first appearance as an actor in the movie The Mummy.

Achievements

(Despite the rough childhood and a major injury that cost him his football career, Johnson still succeed as: Football player, wrestler and actor)

  • By winning a National Championship with the Miami Hurricanes in 1991.
  • ‘The Rock’ became one of the biggest wrestling stars in the World (While winning the WWF/WWE Championship 8 times)
  • In 2016 he was the world’s highest-paid actor at $64.5 million (according to GQ)

Is it true that he wants to run for president?

  • According to WashingtonPost It started off as a joke, then it became more serious.  And later on Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson considered running for president in 2020 as “a real possibility.”
  • Johnson said to GQ that “As time goes on, he will take the temperature of the American people. If it is a very real, overwhelming, positive, strong ‘We want you to run for president’, and he felt that he can step up to the place and become a tremendous leader for the country, and make a real difference and make change, he would do it.”
  • But even in this situation Johnson finds a place for his famous brand of humor and tweets that if he ran for office and won the selection the White House better have a spot for his pickup truck.
  • Also according to GQ a lot of people reacted for the idea of Johnson becoming a president very positively and among them there were some influential men like:
  • Ron Meyer, the NBCUniversal vice chairman, who stated that ‘’If becoming the president is something Johnson focused on, he probably would accomplish it. There's nothing that ‘The Rock couldn't do.” And if Johnson really did run for president, Meyer added would vote for him without a question.
  • Another man is Beau Flynn, the producer, who is even more optimistic about Johnson's chances for victory. He said, that Johnson would win without doubt.  Johnson level of commitment and his care for people would translate immediately. He truly loves the world.
