DYING LIGHT

I wake up and my head hurts. I look around frantically. Why am I on the floor? What's that's noise? My head is aching like legs after a marathon. This isn't even my house! I walk into the living room and peek out of the blinds. A man with warms crawling from his skull. His teeth were rotten, his hair was matted, and his eyes were lifeless and seemed to house no presence suddenly, my memory hit me like and uppercut. That thing out there was a zombie, he was a deranged monster whose brain had been altered by a menacing virus. The virus broke out three weeks ago and swept the nation.

I glance around the room, accessing over what I should do. I decide my best bet is to run up the stairs and lock the door. I run upstairs and into a room, it looks like a little girls room with a bright pink bedspread and posters of princesses all around the walls. Behind me I hear a creak. I whip around to see the closet door slowly opening. Like a ninja I silently step behind the door, ready to run. I hear breathing, slow but purposeful. I peer through a crack in the closet door. I see a little girl. Her blonde hair turned into grey, her skin brown like dirt. Suddenly she burst into life and she charges at me with surprising speed. I quickly lock the door behind me.

As soon as the little girl stops scratching the door I go to search the house for a weapons. But the best I come up with was a short rusty knife. As I walk around the house I find myself at the door to the backyard. I walk out to the backyard and enter a family’s shed. Next to the shed is a little boat. I imagine that little girl catching her first fish on that boat. Then it hits me there must be flares in the boat. My hunch was right was correct four flares inside the family boat. I climb up the little shed and point the flare gun directly up into the sky hoping that someone will see BANG! A red beam of light flickered throughout the neighborhood. Every zombie jerked there lifeless gaze up towards me. It was silent at first until the first zombie howl. The zombies rushed towards me, in fright I panic and clumsily slide off the roof and my hit my head with a mighty slam to the ground.
