Title: E-mail Policy
Source: Email-policy.com
I chose e-mail policies because I believe it is a good thing to have. They set guidelines as to what can and should be said when writing e-mails to somebody you work with. The website I chose as a source further explains this. It explains that e-mail policies are needed in order to secure your company in several ways. One, it will help prevent e-mail threats. Two, it will stop any misconduct happening by asking the people at work to come forward if they received an offensive e-mail. Three, if your company plans on monitoring e-mails, this will help let employees know in advance of what is going to be done. When it comes to creating e-mail policies, you need to state some of the following things:
Email Risks
Personal Usages (if allowed or not)
What some of the prohibited contents are and the actions to follow if rule is broken.
The treatment of confidential data
E-mail monitoring (depends on company)
After the email policy is set, the author suggests that you provide training, and take prompt action in enforcing the policy. A question some people might have is can email monitoring be construed as illegal. The author states that some courts have said if the workers were noticed beforehand it is not illegal.
From this website I have learned that if your company has an e-mail policy and am monitoring them, to watch what is being sent. Even if you want to play a joke on a co-worker, your e-mail can be monitored.
