The Manager (Shekhar) was not easily approachable.
Mohan was shy and was not given properly trained for sales, rather he had a fear of losing his job which forced him to do work.
Mohan was not ready for a promotion. He was not aware of what to do as a Manager.
Probable solutions / options considered
To escape the problems mentioned above, following things can be done-
Effective communication with employees is key to both their success and Mohan’s as well. Employees want to hear from the Manager and they want to be heard. Feedback helps employees grow, and their feedback will help Mohan to develop too.
Encouraging Productivity can be a challenge because all of the team members may have different needs and work in different ways. Some people like working later, some earlier, some people like being given specific instructions, some people like to have more autonomy. It’s important for Mohan to create an environment that’s good for everyone. He must try to find out what works best and adjust accordingly.
Get to know his Team - Leadership is all about how a boss influence his team to achieve its objectives—something each leader will struggle to do if he doesn’t get to know his team members and what makes them tick. While it might be tempting to jump in and start making big moves from day one. Mohan must take time to listen to his team members; find out what their issues and aspirations are, gather ideas, and identify potential strengths and weaknesses. Only then he can formulate a leadership approach that stands a chance of success. Getting to know who he is working with is the first important step to bonding
