CDM has been very financially successful as a growing company. In 2005, a five year plan was announced, and a goal to have $1 Billion in revenue per year by the year 2010 was set. In 2006, the company had revenue exceeding $900 Million, and it is estimated that they will have $1 Billion in revenue by the end of 2007. If this plan succeeds, CDM will update their five year plan in the first quarter of 2008.
The company has also started an employee profit-sharing program. Employees at CDM are given the option to buy stoke at below market value, and so far this has been very profitable for the company, as employees are very motivated to help CDM increase profits, which decreases the risk of the company as a whole.
The management of CDM is one reason for their success, as most projects that have embarked on by management have been completed on time and within budget. The express goal of project managers is to ensure that every project is completed within budget, on time, and to the satisfaction of the client. CDM also has a group in management called resource managers, who ensure that a sufficient amount of employees are assigned to a given project. So, when a project is being solicited, resource managers get together with the project manager, and assign employees to the project. If a certain project has strict time constraints, extra employees may be pulled from other projects to finish the project within the time period. However, the managers choose to solicit projects based on both the probability that they will get the project and their ability to successfully complete the project, rather than cost/benefit analyses. These analyses comprise most of the client managers’ job, along with maintaining positive company/client relationships.
