Technology is widely thought of as a new age of inventions, but technology is really what happens when we combine science with engineering. Technology is something as simplistic as the invention of the wheel and a something as expansive as the internet. The main technological change that has had the greatest effect on this country is computers. They are are one of the greatest inventions in this century. Computers themselves have come along way. From the first computers of the 1940’s that could fill up large room, to now the computers can fit in the palm of your hand.
Computers are making everything run. Today our cars, televisions, and even traffic lights need computers to keep them and our society in working order. If our cars did not have a computer in them we would be unable to diagnose the problem if it malfunctioned. We are able to hookup cars computer system id there is a problem and have a mechanic fix it in no time. With our televisions everything that we see now is all computerized. Instead of taking it to a television repair man to have a bulb changed now a computer repair man must come run a diagnostic on the computer board and replace the defective part. Traffic lights are even ran by computers. The traffic lights are coordinated with together to be able change at the correct time, know when a car arrives at an empty interception, and take pictures of any cars that run the red light while also sending out a ticker to offending drivers.
Today if we did not have computers we of course would be unable to use the internet, but our country would fall back into the 1940’s. I am sure that we woke up without computers any more we could make it. America would just be a lot skinner and just as it is now we would be finding other ways to get to work other than driving our cars. Our children would learn the importance of good penmanship and possibly they would be the ones who would invent the first computer.
