Conserving energy is important because there are limited amounts of nonrenewable energy sources on Earth, it is important to conserve our current supply or to use renewable sources so that our natural resources will be available for future generations. Energy conservations are important because consumption of nonrenewable sources impacts the environment.
I. What are some energy sources?
A. Renewable Sources
1. Renewable energy can offer inexhaustible power generated by the natural processes of wind, sun, water, plant growth, and heat from the earth being converted into power, steam, and heat.
2. Renewable resources are natural resource that can be used to benefit people and can then be replaced for other people to enjoy, and these resources do not run out
B. Non-Renewable Sources
3. A non-renewable energy source is one which, once it is used, cannot be replaced.
4. The fuels we use today fall are non renewable source such as oil, gas, petrol, and coal. Once these sources are burned to heat homes or power cars, their energy is lost forever.
II. What can be done to conserve energy?
A. Use less energy and buy energy efficient products. Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
1. Buy products with minimal packaging will help to reduce waste. Products that come with excess packaging especially molded plastic and other packaging that can't be recycled should be avoidable.
2. In your vehicle make sure its coolant is recovered and recycled whenever you have it serviced. Leakage from auto air conditioners is the largest single source of emissions of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), which damage the ozone layer as well as add to global warming.
B. Tighten up your home to conserve energy.
1. Checking the filters on heating systems monthly can help conserve energy, and remove, clean or change when needed.
2. Seal up cracks in the walls and around the windows will keep the smallest amount of energy from being lost
III. Landscape properly to conserve
A. People should use landscape plants to conserve energy
1. Proper placement of trees, shrubs, and vines around a house conserves energy and add beauty. Trees are the number-one landscape plant used in energy conservation in the home landscape.
2. Trees help remove pollutants from the atmosphere that can damage humans. They absorb carbon dioxide and other gases while producing oxygen for us to breathe
B. Tress can produce the greenhouse effect
1. Trees and other plants reduce the greenhouse effect by shading houses and office buildings
2. This benefit also reduces air conditioning need up to 30 percent because less electricity is required for cooling
Conclusion:
Energy conservation is an effective means of reducing environmental impacts and achieving Substantial economic savings can be realized through energy conservation. Energy conservation is a global concern and can be facilitated through effective land use planning, building standards and design, and improved transportation efficiency.
ENGERY CONSERVATION
The current high prices for natural gas and electricity are not a temporary phenomenon that will go away soon. Energy prices are climbing because demand is exceeding supply, and the energy markets are being distorted by irrational and unjust economic structures. People use a lot of energy, and we need to be careful about how much non-renewable energy we use. We rely heavily in fossil fuels, such as coal and oil, and there is a limited amount of these in nature. One problem with nonrenewable energy resources is fuels are burned they produce the gas carbon dioxide, which is a greenhouse gas and is a major contributor to global warming. Transporting oil around the world can produce oil slicks, pollute beaches and harm wildlife. Another problem is burning coal without first purifying it contributes to global warming, as well as to the production of smoke and fog, which is harmful to health. It is a finite resource and will eventually run out.
“Reducing energy uses and costs, reduces the amount of waste produced” Parker, J G (Jan-Feb 2008). There are many good reasons to use renewable energy sources; one good reason is that it does not run out. Renewable energy is found in many places in the United States. There are many types of renewable energy in the world, such as such as solar, wind and biomass. Solar energy is energy that derives directly from the sun; this energy drives the climate and weather and supports virtually all life on Earth. The heat and light from the sun, along with solar-based resources such as wind and wave power, hydroelectricity and biomass, account for most of the available flow of renewable energy. The disadvantages of solar energy are that the amount of sunlight that arrives at the earth's surface is not constant. It depends on location, time of day, time of year, and weather condition. The sun doesn't deliver that much energy to any one place at any one time, a large surface area is required to collect the energy at a useful rate.
Photovoltaic energy is an energy resource that is a conversion of sunlight into electricity. A photovoltaic cell, commonly called a solar cell or PV, is the technology used to convert solar energy directly into electrical power. A photovoltaic cell is a non-mechanical device usually made from silicon alloys.
New sources of energy are found in sunlight, wind, and water. These sources are called renewable energy because they can not be used up. They do not make pollution when they are used. Renewable energy does not pollute, fossil fuel power plants that make electricity can pollute the air and water. Coal emits smoke and chemicals when it is burned to make electricity. Nuclear power plants create radioactive waste that is dangerous for thousands of years. Gasoline burned in our cars cause smog. Some renewable energy sources, such as wind and sunshine, do not emit smoke or create pollution when they are used. Other renewable energy sources almost always cause less pollution than fossil fuels or nuclear power plants. Biomass, for example, is a fuel that comes from things that were once living, like wood or garbage.
Energy is such a big part of our lives; we could not make it through the day without it. Energy conservation and energy efficiency
