Friendship: Hearts of life
“One of the most beautiful qualities of true friendship is to understand and to be understood.” (Lucius Annaeus Seneca). Friendship is a beautiful thing to happen to any person in this world. Without friends in our life, we would be very incomplete. From the first day of school to the last breath of our life we’ll always have that one friend hopefully who will be there. Friendship is an everlasting bond between individuals who knows each other very well. I have a friend circle very large which can’t be compared to anything in this world, not all of them fall under the same category. One of my friend, he has so much respect for me and it took a long time to build the everlasting friendship with him. Whenever I need of his company he is always there. This type of friendship is very rare to find, not everyone is selfless. There are various types of friendships and to be more specific the common types are; some who are just useful to us in some way, some whose company we enjoy a lot, and some based on mutual respect and admiration.
There are some friends who are always useful to us. They help us whenever we are in need. They give us courage and listen to us when we have any kind of problems. They may be our college or school friends. They are responsible, kind, impartial, and nice people. I have a friend who is really useful to me. Although he is busy with his career, he helps me out whenever I'm in need. He never forgets to reply my email, phone, or text no matter what else is going on with his life or how busy he is. Even if it's simply something succinct -like "just wanted to stay in touch and say hi". I truly appreciate these signals that I'm being thought about and that our friendship is very important to him.
We have some friends who make our life enjoyable and memorable. We can share our happiness and sadness. If something good happens like someone's birthday, wedding, graduation, or first day at the new job, we arrange a party for these things. Also if something bad happens such as losing a job, someone's death, or something depressing. Life will be become easy and comfortable if we have these types of friends. We live in a big world where there are so many places to see, people to meet, and experiences to be had, yet so many of us are stuck in our own routines and forget to live well. We forget to live our lives to the fullest. We all need some adventurous friends, who will pull us out of our shells and introduce us to new ideas, cultures, philosophies, and activities. Friends that will make us explore all the new things. We can visit various types of places with them during the weekend or any time for refreshment. These people make us realize that we do in fact have a sense of personal space and some boundaries. When they walk into the room, we can feel their eyes zone in on us. I'm fortunate enough to have at least a few friends who are sincerely and openly happy for me when something nice occurs.
We all taunt our friends about treating us to a free meal and we've all been taunted the same way. But there are a few people who would actually hand over their bill at the end of the meal. These relationships based on mutual respect and admiration. These friendly relationships come in many shapes and packages such as: please help me with my homework, can I borrow your car, what time are you picking me up. All favorite lines that make you feel more like a butler than a friend. These friends also help us to choose career decisions. Sometimes people hesitate to take appropriate decision on their life. A good friend can help them out to find out the right path. He/she can also help guide us through life and avoid all the bad that they have experienced before, and enjoy all the good things in life. I had an experience in my life when I was trying to choose my major. I was really weak in mathematics, but my parents wanted me to be an engineer. They told me if I am able to become an engineer, then I will earn more money and my life will be happy. That I won’t have to worry about hardships, but I don’t like mathematics at all. That time I felt hesitant to make my decision. What should I do now? Should I go for engineering or accounting that I prefer. Then one of my friend who was studding engineering at that time, told me to do whatever I want. Do what your heart tells you to do. Then I made my decision to do accounting instead. It was a good decision to follow my heart. It makes me satisfied.
