  1. Describe the difference between the Sunnis and Shi’ites.

After the death of Muhammad, the question of succession arose. The Sunnis         wanted to vote for their next leader. The Sunnis would vote for the         companions of the past leader. On the contrary, the Shi’ites believed in         appointing someone as leader by the family or lineage of the past leader.

  1. What is the most central difference between Islam and Christianity?

The central difference between Islam and Christianity is the views of         Salvation, Sin, and Belief. The way you get into heaven for Christians is         believing that God is your Savior, but in Islam your salvation is all related to         how many deeds you do. But for Christians the only thing we have to do is         accept God, but for Islam it is unclear how many or what deeds you have to         do. For Christianity, sin is inside of you and the only way you can get rid of it         is through God. But for Islam, sin is like crust on the outside and can be         peeled off. For Christians, we have to convert to Christianity, but Islam you         revert which means you are born that way. In the Islamic belief, you just         repeat the words, “There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his prophet,         but you really don’t have to believe it. In Christianity, you have to believe in         Jesus completely with all your heart to be Christian.
