CORRUPTION
I have a dream, a dream that my country will be rid of the evil menace of corruption. I have a dream, a dream that all my country men will have equal opportunity, education and development that will eradicate poverty.
I am here to speak about my dream of seeing my country enter 2025 as a developed and corruption free country. When my country was liberated and gained freedom at midnight. Mr Nehru in his first speech in free India had envisaged a country that would become superpower on count of its great people, who had been willing to give up everything, even sacrifice their lives for freedom. Yet today Nehru’s dream and all those people who sacrificed their lives would be so disappointed to see India in a quagmire of corruption, poverty, ill literacy, underdevelopment, and many more evils.
Does this mean that my country will always remain like this? I don’t think so. I have a dream and if millions of my brothers and sisters who have the same dream join hands, I know that my dream will be fulfilled. Some of you might think that dream is a fantasy and might not be fulfilled but I assure you, that if we all work together then this dream of mine, this dream of ours will be reality soon.
“Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Our politicians start with ideal but get influenced and end up going on the path, where their good intentions are defeated by power of money. It’s the temptation of money that they just can’t resist. But the crown and glory of life is character. Character is not something that you have in everyday situation, but a situation where there is temptation but you do not succumb to it, but able to resist the temptation. So it is us the people of the society who will have to stand up peacefully and resist corruption.
Corruption is an epidemic which is holding back our country from developing. It is us the people of this country
