Ethical Approach to running a sugar business
For long the sugar industries have always been accused of undermining the ethical approach that is needed to run the business. The costs of these unethical approaches have been borne by the farmers or the consumers. Sugar Sweet Products Ltd (SSPL) should follow the ethical approach that is essential. The SSPL should focus on the approach of environment, trading fairly and relationship with their employees.
The Environment
SSPL should motivate sustainable practises for farming, agriculture and manufacturing processes. The various suppliers and representatives of SSPL should aim towards improving their operations according to the environmental challenges. An Environmental Management System must in operation within the industry. SSPL should be aware of all the environmental legislations that may affect their business. A review of all the environmental aspects of the products must be done by them. They should also develop a plan for emergency if by chance any mishap occurs pertaining to environment.
Trading Fairly
SSPL should be able to perform its trade in a fairer manner. It should be committed towards providing quality services to their consumers. All the aspects of the transactions must be fully understood. Unnecessary advantage of vulnerable situations must not be taken. A control should be exercised over the input and the output markets. A clearer detail must be provided by SSPL. If any complaint is encountered with then it should be dealt accordingly and immediately.
Relationship with employees
The relationship that employees have with an employee in the sugar industry has always been a hot topic of discussion ranging from the wages that is being paid to the health issues. The equation between the employee and employer must be dealt with ethically by SSPL. It should focus on the following points:
