A look back at my life and the past twenty-seven years, tells the cultural background that has become me. Most of these experiences have been recalled like the day they happen. Most of my sources for these experiences have been derived form people really close to me. Some of this background comes from things that make me think. How much of my family has to do with the process in which my works today.

Parents

My parents are both of African-American descent and have always shown me this heritage was of great value to the United States we know today. My mother is was the daughter of a strong Black woman and a once very strong young auto mechanic. My grandmother was part Native American and it shows in my mother skin color. My mother and her siblings all have very light skin. This has been passed to a couple of my sisters and I seemed to have missed this strong trait all together. My father, one ten siblings and a very dark skinned man gave me the skin color that is very much me. I remember when girls actually looked down on dark skinned guys when I went to high school. You weren't as popular if you were a darker shade. I felt this was always a bunch of crap, I proved to be right in the coming years. My mother told me that she loved my father for his Dark skin. My father fell in love with the bright skin my mother had. This was part of my self esteem as a young man and it still holds true to this day. My skin color gives me my race and my race provided the cultural direction as a boy that you would.

School and Education

During my years at school as a child, I grew up around nothing but black kids who shared my struggle and poverty level. This always gave me the clarity I needed to keep pushing forward. It's almost a fraternal right to come as far as I have come and still remember exactly where I am from. I went to school in place where the Board of Education taught the Meap test that was it and most of the class resources were put towards state Meap testing. Anything else learned form school was very limited and usually not very challenging. This is I got most of my Acculturation came in to play.
