The word hero is not used today as it was many years ago. Back then a hero was a warrior who fought and killed his enemies to save many lives. Today we know there are many types of heroes. For example, Martin Luther King changed the lives of many and was considered a great hero though he never fought or killed anyone. A hero is anyone who changes anyone's life in a positive way. The classic definition of a hero is a strong courageous man who fights evil to defend the lives of the innocent. Many times he would be a made up story hero. Superhuman strength would be the most important characteristic of what a hero would be given in one of these adventure stories. A hero also had to be fearless, caring, and famous. Now a hero must posse many qualities to achieve this title. They must be brave and strong, yet also be human. A hero has fear in their life and same emotions that we also have. A hero does something helpful without expecting a reward. A hero affects a large amount of people. Best of all they think of others before thinking of themselves. When around a hero you can sense a unique aura. A leader and important person. He helps others any way he can, even without being asked. He is a kind and gentle person, who would never mean to harm anyone. Flames are coming out of every opening in a building and a firefighter runs in to save someone that is inside. A police officer is shot while trying to ensure that no innocent lives are taken of those being held hostage inside a bank. A lifeguard jumps into the deep end of the pool to save a drowning child. Firefighters, police officers, lifeguards or even the next door neighbor could be considered heroes. To me a hero someone who
