“Field Trip” Concert Analyses
I went to Romeo Santos on June 3rd with my mom, grandma, and aunt. He presented himself at Toyota Center here in Houston, Texas. Romeo Santos is considered to be the King of Bachata, and after seeing him live in concert I believe that lives up to his name.
When I entered the Toyota Center I could feel my stomach turning because I was nervous and excited at the same time. Our seats were a little bit too high but I still enjoyed the concert. It was nerve-racking for me when I sat down having to wait until he came out to perform. Once I caught eye of Romeo Santos stepping on stage my whole body filled with joy and I shot up from the chair and began to scream. I had been a fan of Romeo Santos since I was a little girl because he used to be in a very famous Bachata band called, Aventura. He was the main singer and I always thought he had an amazing voice. When I heard him greet us and sing his first song I felt as if I had fallen in love his voice was so soothing, and he had a romantic, emotional feeling in how he sang. My favorite moment was when he played his song, “Solo Por Un Beso” because it reminds me of previous memories that I had with someone important in my life therefore, it filled me with delight.
Romeo Santos mostly sings about the hardships he has faced, his love for women, and the loves that he has lost. He tries to express his feelings through his songs and help to make music that will connect to others. Every time I hear his music I get emotional. During the concert he played a lot of his old music that he had made with his previous band. Romeo Santos played, “Amor de Madre” that night and I consider it to be his most heartbreaking song. When he played it everyone got quiet and just listened to him sing it. It explains about a Mother’s love to her child. It describes how his father left them and the mother had to take up prostitution to be able to provide for her son. The song also goes into further detail explaining how the son grew up with many valuable things and became a snobby, ungrateful kid involved in illegal activities unaware of what his mom had to do to be able to keep a roof over his head. The Mom decided to follow that path because she wanted her son to have a better life with more opportunities to get into a proper career then she ever did, but her son let her down when one afternoon the police went looking for the son and arrested him for murder. The mother did not want to accept the truth; she felt that deep down in her heart her son was innocent. I love this song because it tells of a real life story that is meant to provide a deep meaning and to teach a lesson especially to kids to not be ungrateful, because they never know what their parents had to go through. I did not think he would perform this song, but I am glad he did because it has an even bigger effect hearing him sing it live.
