Ignition of Flammable liquid

Started outdoors . It was 102 degrees outside

Started with I cap full of 70% alcohol in a normal size mayo jar lid. I used a Luminere candle butane lighter to ignite the fluid. The problem with being out doors if I could not see then it ignited. The flame burns blue and yellow and it was to bright even in the shade to see. I quickly brought the experiment indoors. Indoor temp was 78 degrees. I used a large cookie sheet to put the lid on. I cap full of liquid with the candle lighter it needed to be Ð'ј inch from fluid to ignite. The flame was around 5 to 8” and had a blue base with the top being yellow. No smoke was visible. The flame lasted 37 sec. Moved on to 2 cap fulls. With candle lighter it only need to be Ð'Ð... inch away to ignite. It burned for 3 mins and 40 secs. Flames reached 9 to 12 inches high. Also there was no smoke visible.

My next heat source was a wooden match. I cap full only needed to be 1 inch from fluid. It burned for 1 min 30 secs. Flames reached 5”. I also tried to blow out a match to see if the heat transfer was enough to light the fluid. The heat from a blown out match was not enough.

Next I used 2 wooded matches it also only needed 1 inch to ignite.

Now I moved on to 2 cap fulls. 1 match was used and it needed to be 1” as well to ignite. It had a burn time of 2 mins 12 secs.

Next I tried 2 cap fulls and 2 matches . The matches only needed to be 11/4 inch away from fluid to ignite. It only burned for 47 secs.

I also tried it with 3 cap fulls both with lighter and matches. The lighter needed to be Ð'Ð... inch and it burned for 3 mins and 12 secs.
