Friedensreich Regentag Dunkelbunt Hundertwasser

Friedensreich Regentag Dunkelbunt Hundertwasser (December 15, 1928 Ð'- February 19, 2000 died at the age 72) He was an Austrian painter and sculptor. By the end of the 20th century, he was arguably the best-known contemporary Austrian artist, though he was always controversial.

The house was built between 1983 and 1986 by architects, University Professor Joseph Krawina and Peter Pelikan. It features uneven floors (kurdii - a melody to the feet.) A roof covered with earth and grass, and large trees growing from inside the rooms, with branches extending from windows. Hundertwasser always said the work that he did was to prevent something ugly from going up in its place. Within the house there are 52 apartments, four offices, 16 private terraces and three communal terraces, and a total of 250 trees and bushes. The Hundertwasser House is one of Austria's most visited buildings and has become part of Austria's cultural heritage.

The Hundertwasser house embodies the practical elements necessary of architecture (I.E. roof and walls to shelter from rain and wind) but in a new non Ð'-conventional way. The Hundertwasser house in Vienna, Austria is an example of post modern architecture.

The Hundertwasser house contains no clean right angles(even on the floors) and is loaded with colour. Plants and trees become a part of the whole building which, unlike other buildings allows it to vary and flow naturally.

He has influenced my work by the way he creates his shapes and the use of color and texture. My vessel is inspired by one of Hundertwasser's models.

In my opinion the most interesting thing about Hundertwasser is how creative he is and how he can make everything from dull to vibrant and colourful.
