To upgrade from a previous version, do the following:
NOTE: SystemEDGE 4.2pl1 no longer uses the Microsoft Master SNMP
agent. SystemEDGE 4.2pl1 can not be configured as a sub-agent
under the Microsoft Master Agent.
1) Save the distribution to the file "sysedge.exe"
2) Log onto the target NT system as administrator
3) If you are upgrading SystemEDGE on the target NT system and using
the Top Processes AIM, please stop any service using the Top
Processes dll before extracting the SystemEDGE software.
If upgrading SystemEDGE 4.1pl4 or lower, stop
the Microsoft master SNMP agent.
If upgrading SystemEDGE 4.2pl1 or higher, stop
the SystemEDGE Service.
Failure to stop the service may cause the Top Processes AIM
not to be updated.
4) Run the file "sysedge.exe c:"
This will cause the distribution to be installed in the
directory "c:sysedge".
This installation will copy the sysedge.dll, sysedge.cf and sysedge.lic
files to the system32 sub-directory located under the system root
(e.g. c:winntsystem32).
NOTE: If you are upgrading, setup will not copy the sysedge.cf and
sysedge.lic files. You should read the new sysedge.cf file in the
sysedgeconfig directory to find new configuration file options
that you may want to use.
5) The installation process will prompt you for licensing information.
If this system is currently connected to the Internet, you should
be able to license the system automatically by providing your
license account information. If this fails to obtain a license,
please follow the licensing directions below.
The setup program will output a message indicating that you need
a license for this host machine. The agent will also print
out a string which you must provide to Concord.
In your favorite Web browser, go to license.concord.com
and select "For Registered Customers" if you are a current user.
Select "For Evaluations" if you are evaluating SystemEDGE.
Fill out the form using the information printed by the agent.
A license will be generated for you which you must place
in the file: sysedge.lic located in the system32
sub-directory under the system root
(e.g. c:winntsystem32sysedge.lic)
- or, if you do not have Web access -
Fill out the license request form "config/license.txt"
with the complete string generated by the agent.
Send this completed form to license@concord.com.
A license will be generated for you which you must place
in the file: sysedge.lic located in the system32
sub-directory under the system root
(e.g. c:winntsystem32sysedge.lic)
6) You should edit sysedge.cf to configure SystemEDGE to
conform to local administrative policies. The sysedge.cf file
is located in the same sub-directory as the sysedge.lic file.
