Throughout my adolescent years, I have viewed the college experience as the final stepping stone into my future. The knowledgeable teachings, life lessons, and experiences taken from these years will blaze the trail in which life holds for me and equip myself with the knowledge and skill to help confront any obstacle. Heidelberg College is an institution that aims to do all of this and more throughout a student's four year stay. Heidelberg's liberal arts education, competitive NCAA III athletic programs, and unique campus lifestyle provide an exceptional learning environment and one-of-a-kind social atmosphere tailored to its students. I am extremely excited to have enrolled in Heidelberg's graduating class of 2011 and plan to devote everything I have to efficiently prepare myself for the future.
I plan to use Heidelberg's liberal arts education, rigorous course selection and high standard for success to my benefit as a driving force to achieve my goals. I will make sure to take advantage of the rare 13:1 student-to-faculty ratio and smaller class sizes, which will allow material in all subjects to be comprehended faster. I will highly value the small campus setting and the individual identity I share amongst teachers and fellow classmates. A close-knit relationship between my teachers, classmates, and I will hopefully instill strong friendships and valuable connections to the working world. The second semester of my freshman year at Heidelberg, I plan to enroll in the prestigious Honors College. I am deeply attracted to the program's unique "Life of the Mind" approach toward empowering students to explore their own abilities. This program proves to challenge all of its members in academics and in the development of intellect and character. After acceptance, the program also allows students to narrow their course of study away from general education classes and into intellectual discussion seminars geared toward one's specific major. The Honors College proves to be a demanding challenge, yet a very beneficial investment to my future as well. Lastly, Heidelberg's vast opportunities to study abroad will provide valuable insight and background on my expected major of Business Management and minor of International Studies and Finance. The cultural awareness and independence gained from these trips will develop me as a person and provide perspective on foreign economic, political, and social issues; a highly regarded trait in the business world.
Playing a collegiate sport will also establish my character and the highly regarded leadership and teamwork qualities major corporations aim to recruit as employees. I am currently listed as an incoming freshman for the nationally ranked Heidelberg Baseball team competing out of the renowned OAC conference. My opportunity to continue my playing career at the collegiate level will summon my leadership qualities
