The life of a humanitarian is not a life of dependence on other people, nor a life of secrecy. A perfect example a humanitarian's life is a small man that made a big difference. This man is Mohandas Gandhi. This man was thought to be a God figure of peace to the people of India. This single man is thought to be the father of India and because of this he was given the name "Mahatma", which means great soul.
One of my main points about why Gandhi is a humanitarian is because of his amazingly persuasive ways. With Mahatma being a political leader and this making him of a higher stature, he used nonviolent ways to create peace between religious groups or even all the way to countries in a political disagreement. Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869 in Porbandar India. One of the best examples of Mahatma's non-violent persuasion is how he managed to free a country a country from another country's rule. The country that happened to be freed was no other but his own country of India. He unchained the chains holding India to Great Britain's Control. He did not use any force in doing this. He used his own techniques of fasting to impress on others the need for non-violence. This led him to being know as the father of India because of the freeing of India from Britain.
As well as being known for his freeing of the country of India, Gandhi is also known for his work of creating peace between the two different groups of India and Pakistan or better known as the Muslims, (India), and the Hindus, (Pakistan). Mahatma had many different approaches to developing and successfully stopping the uproar between the Muslims and the Hindus. Some of these approaches were more and less affective than others but they all were in a non-violent manner. Some examples used to try and stop this outrage are fasting to gain everyone's attention and then proceed by gaining followers to also fast with him. Although to Gandhi fasting was used as a last resort because of an extremity of starvation, this was also his most breathtaking way to manage to stop injustice. Another technique he used to non-violently stop injustice was long peace talks as he called them. These were basically a mighty gatherings of people from anywhere in the world, but mainly Pakistan and India, and then he would speak of how the power of non-violence would rise up and bring to an end this confrontation that is not needed. This would not only most of the time stop the fighting because of Gandhi's powerful words but would also further prevent other conflict by bring hope into the peoples souls for no further disruptions. This is just on of the instances of Gandhi's commanding speeches, "The world will live in peace, only when the individuals composing it make up their minds to do so", (Mahatma Gandhi).
