CSULB is a public university with a four-year graduation program, it is coed, only 39% of applicants are admitted, it's regionally accredited, and a College Board member. There are Bachelor's and Master's degrees available. There are about 27,180 degree-seeking undergrads, about 3,408 degree-seeking freshmen, and the graduate enrollment is about 6,299. About 99% of students are in-state while only 1% are out-of-state, 67% women and 33% men make up the students. 82% of students are in the top quarter of graduating class and 100% in top half. 85% had a H.S. GPA of 3.0 or higher, and 15% had 2.0-2.99 GPA.

86% of freshmen returned for a second term as sophomores. The total numbers of transfer students were 11,513 and only 5,406 were admitted. SAT Reasoning or ACT required for admittance, students are selected on the following basis:
