Globlisation Is Making Countries Increasingly Similar

The topic of my presentation is: “Globalisation is making countries increasingly similar. Do you agree or disagree?”

At the beginning I’d like to describe what is globalisation. People around the world are more connected to each other than ever before. Information and money flow so quick, that we even don’t know about it. Products produced in one part of a country are available to the rest of the world. It is much easier for people to travel, communicate or do business internationally. Everybody is affected by other governments or decision-makers. This whole phenomenon spurred on in the past by merchants, explorers, colonialists and internationalists nas in more recent times been increasing rapidly.

As I have previously said globalisation is a process. As there are always two sides of everything, it has advantages, but also disadvantages. Some people claim, that it is making countries similar. I don’t agree with this statement and in my speech I’m going to present some benefits of globalisation.

As far as I am concerned, it does not make sense to talk about 6 billion people becoming a monoculture. The spread of globalisation will undoubtedly bring changes to the countries it reaches, but change is an essential part of life. It does not mean the abolition of traditional values. In my opinion, globalisation doesn’t affect badly on people’s minds. Appropriate example can be European Union. Countries forge closer their ties with each other, take part in a free trade, have one currency, but people don’t forget about their origin. They become more open-minded, but also show their identity and try to present how unique they are.
